Basic Troubleshooting for Roku

There are a series of troubleshooting steps you can take to ensure you are receiving an optimal experience on the different channels on Roku. Some of the steps are listed below:

1. Check your internet connection.

If you’re facing issues in internet connection, then you should go to Settings > Network on your Roku player to check whether your connection is active or not.

2. Keep your OS up to date.

    Restart the channel

  • Highlight the channel and press the * on the Roku Remote.
  • Now Select Close.
  • Select The CW or CW Seed channel to relaunch it.

    Uninstall and reinstall the channel

  • Highlight the channel and press the * on the Roku Remote.
  • Select Remove Channel.
  • Now navigate to the Streaming Channels section and reinstall the channel.

    Troubleshooting process for wireless Roku remote

    Step 1: Find the pairing button and press it
  • You need to open the battery cover and then, open the battery compartment.
  • Then, quickly press and release the pairing button.
  • You are going to see a flash LED light, if not, then the problem is in your batteries, so replace them with the new ones.
  • Test the remote control to see if it is working.
    Step 2: Power cycle the Roku player along with the remote
  • Turn off the power of the Roku player and turn it on after 20 seconds.
  • After turning it off now remove the batteries once the booting is done.
  • To determine the functionality, reinsert the batteries.
    Step 3: Pair the remote with Roku player
  • You have to again remove the battery cover and open the battery compartment.
  • Press and hold the pairing button until you see the LED light turning on.
  • Now, you will see a pairing dialog box on your TV screen.
    Step 4: Clear the remote control and try to re-pair it
  • First you need to remove battery cover and open battery compartment.
  • Turn off the power supply of Roku player.
  • Don’t forget to press Home and down buttons of the Roku player. In some models, there is A & B button, so press them. While pressing those buttons, press the pairing button on your remote.
  • Now release the buttons when you see remote pairing LED glowing.
  • Once you see three more LED flashes, the clearing of the remote is done.
  • Turn on the power supply of the Roku player.
  • Again, put the remote to pairing mode by pressing the pairing button and holding it.
  • You will be able to see the pairing message on your TV screen once the Roku player is rebooted. Then, your Roku remote will be paired with the Roku player.
    Step 5: In case the steps don’t work for you then you should do Factory reset your device
  • To factory reset the device, press the Roku Player for 20 seconds. There will be a reset button given on the back of the Roku player, at the bottom or at the top (for Roku streaming sticks).
